The Odisha government today warned of stringent action against cooperative societies selling urea at rates exceeding Rs 295 a bag of 50 kg.
"The government has fixed a revised price of Rs 295 per bag of urea after implementation of GST. Any cooperative society selling urea at higher rate will be taken to task," state cooperative and foods supply and consumer welfare minister S N Patro said.
Addressing a zilla parishad meeting at Chhatrapur in Ganjam district, the minister said there was no dearth of urea in the state.
Fresh stock of the fertiliserr has arrived at Jagannathpur railway station near here and around 2,000 metric tonnes of urea for Ganjam district would be made available from it, sources said.
