The case came to light after five students of the science stream lodged a complaint when they found their roll numbers missing from the board's website after the exam's results were declared today.
The accused, Kulwant Marwah (23), director of Gurukul coaching centre, purportedly put an advertisement in the newspaper last year promising to help students in securing atleast 75 per cent marks in the senior secondary science exams without appearing for them.
"When the students did not find their roll numbers in the results on the board's website, they approached us following which we arrested Marwah," said SHO (Sardarpura PS) Subhash Sharma.
On an average, the accused allegedly took Rs 35,000 from each of the students under various pretexts, Sharma said.
Further investigations are on to determine the exact number of students duped by him, he added.
