A woman has lodged a police complaint claiming that an unidentified person has threatened to "blow up" her coaching institute if she does not pay up Rs one crore.

Nitu Singh, director of KD Campus coaching institute at northwest Delhi's Mukherji Nagar area, alleged that she received an extortion message on WhatsApp on September 21 demanding Rs one crore, the police said today.

The unidentified sender of the message had asked her to bring the money at a place in Burari and threatened to "blow up" her coaching institute if she alerted the police or failed to pay up, they added.

A case has been registered and an investigation launched, said a senior police officer, adding that the number from which the message was sent was "being verified" through technical surveillance.
