Telecom industry bodies COAI and AUSPI have written to Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to deseal mobile towers, which were sealed despite having valid permissions, within 2 days.

In a letter to MCD, the GSM and CDMA bodies said that during a hearing before Delhi High Court on August 28, its counsel had informed the court that while the application is still pending for adjudication before the court wherein it has been prayed for restraining MCD from sealing towers, the civic body continues to seal them.

The letter said more than 70 towers have been sealed since the date of filing the application.

The joint letter said MCD, in violation of the earlier orders passed by the Court, has failed to deseal many telecom towers and in fact continues to seal additional towers illegally even where the companies have valid permissions from MCD.

The industry bodies said MCD should deseal all the towers which had been earlier sealed and further deseal all such towers which have been sealed after filing of the application within two days of the receipt of this letter.
