State-owned Coal India's production stood at 47.47 million tonnes in November, down by 4.42 per cent from the targeted output level for the month.
In a regulatory filing, CIL said the actual coal production was 47.47 million tonnes in November this year, while the offtake was 45.33 million tonnes in the same month.
During the April-November period of this fiscal, total coal production was 321.38 million tonnes, it added.

Coal India missed the production target for 2014-15 by 3 per cent, recording an output of 494.23 million tonne. The company accounts for more than 80 per cent of the domestic coal production.

Swarup also said increased availability of rakes from the Railways last fiscal led to record evacuation of coal.
"Increased availability of rakes by the Railways from 194 per day during 14-15 to 212 during 15-16, enabled record evacuation of coal," Swarup tweeted.
Coal India's offtake during last fiscal was at 532 million tonnes against the target of 532.26 million tonnes.
He further said that forest clearance entailing 4,179 hectares of land enabled record coal production by CIL.
"Record coal production by Coal India made possible through unprecedented acquisition of 5549 hectares of land," he tweeted.
"Incremental coal production growth of 74 MT by Coal India in just 2 years, 14-15 and 15-16, almost equivalent to growth during 11th Plan," he tweeted further.
Coal India, which accounts for over 80 per cent of the domestic coal production, had earlier said that it was planning to realign its logistics management of railway rakes to increase evacuation by additional 5-8 per cent.
The company had said that it was trying to explore possibilities to transport coal of other subsidiaries to southern region through ports of eastern region and leveraging multi-modal transport.
