Coal minister carries of blanket distribution drive in Kanpur

A blanket distribution drive was carried out at Govindnagar here with 500 blankets being distributed to the poor by Coal Minister Sriprakash Jaiswal.

As many as 5,000 blankets were sent by the Coal Ministry for distribution to poor suffering from cold in Kanpur.

"Coal ministry has sent 5000 blankets for the poor which will be distributed in each assembly constituency in the city," President of Kanpur unit of Congress, Mahesh Dikshit told PTI today.

Jaiswal, who is the Congress MP from Kanpur, distributed 500 blankets to the poor in Govindnagar assembly constituency yesterday, Dikshit said.

On being asked if the drive was undertaken in view of the approaching Lok Sabha elections, Dikshit said it is conducted every year, but this time, it is being carried out on a large-scale.
 

He said more blankets will be received soon.

The party has started its preparations for Lok Sabha elections and Jaiswal is holding meetings in every ward, he said.
