Adani Enterprises Limited, the flagship firm of the Adani Group, has moved the Bombay High Court seeking to quash Letters Rogatory (LRs) issued by the DRI in 2016 in a case pertaining to alleged overvaluation of coal imports.

Letter Rogatory is a letter to judicial agencies in other countries, seeking information or assistance.

In March 2016, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) initiated probe against some Adani Group firms for alleged overvaluation of coal imports from Indonesia between 2011 and 2015.

DRI issued LRs to Singapore, Dubai and Hong Kong authorities seeking their help to access documents lying with overseas branches of three state-owned banks relating to the transactions under probe.

Adani Enterprises Limited yesterday filed a petition in the high court challenging the DRI's action of issuing LRs and sought that the LRs be quashed.

The petition is likely to come up before a division bench of the court on September 6.
