Coast Guard celebrates 40 th Raising Day

The Indian Coast Guard in Karnataka celebrated its 40th Raising Day at its Headquarters near the city today.

The maritime Armed Force had been serving the people of coastal state of Karnataka by providing safety and security to the state's maritime frontiers and also preparing and monitoring issues of ocean environmental security.

Addressing the Officers, K R Suresh The Commander, Coast Guard Karnataka said, the Coast Guard Karnataka had instilled faith in the hearts of the coastal community and fishermen of Karnataka by its commitment to protect the sovereignty and save innocent souls at sea at all costs with utter disregard to their own lives.
 

The challenging tasks at sea in all situations had seemed simple because of the infallible attitude, professionalism and patriotism shown by the officers.

He urged the officers to multiply their efforts and strive to sharpen their alertness to matchless standards for the cause of national ocean security.

Coast Guard Headquarters, Western Region, Mumbai had declared Coast Guard Karnataka as 'The Best Coast Guard Shore Unit' for its incessant approach and steadfast actions with 360 degree coverage for operations, infrastructure development and humanitarian services at sea over the past one year.

Indian Coast Guard's success and growth lies in the fact that began with mere two small corvettes and five patrol boats, whereas, today the service is omnipresent on National and International maritime domain with 125 ships, 62 aircraft, 42 shore stations and 11 air establishments, a coastguard release here said.

The Service had successfully attained the status as the fourth largest Coast Guard in the world and is persistent in its commitment to serve the nation and its countrymen.

Karnataka has a coastline of 320 Kms and in close proximity to the Lakshadweep and Minicoy Islands.
