Coast Guard chopper crash: Khattar mourns death of co-pilot

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has mourned the death of Penny Chaudhary, co-pilot of Coast Guard helicopter which crashed near Maharashtra's Raigad, and conveyed his condolences to members of the bereaved family.

Assistant Commandant Capt Penny Chaudhary, the co-pilot of the Coast Guard Chetak helicopter, was on life support following surgery for head injury, died Tuesday night after battling for life for 17 days.

The officer had suffered internal bleeding after the rotor of the helicopter struck her head during the incident on March 10.

She was admitted at the naval hospital INHS Asvini in south Mumbai's Colaba area.

"The brave and gusty officer from Karnal wasone of the youngest women pilots of the country. She was a bright student who worked hard to become a pilot and set an example for others to follow.

 

"I convey my heart-felt condolences to members of the bereaved family and pray that her soul may rest in peace," the Chief Minister said in a condolence message.

The mortal remains of the 26-year-old were consigned to flames with state honours at Karnal today.
