Coast Guard conducts refresher course for first time

For the first time, the Indian Coast Guard (Eastern region) today began a refresher course, focusing on better integration of personnel during search and rescue operations.

The three day course was formally inaugurated by Coast Guard Eastern region Inspector General SP Sharma here.

Twelve participants from the Airport Authority of India and Coast Guard who are directly involved in coordinating search and rescue over land and sea would be trained, an official release said.

Senior officials from the Coast Guard, Airport Authority of India and Indian Space Research Organisation would conduct lectures for the participants during the training programme.

The Coast Guard is conducting the course for the first time and the last four such courses were conducted by Airport Authority of India, it said.
