The Coast Guard has rescued five fishermen stranded in the mid-sea following technical problems in their fishing boat in Bay of Bengal.
Acting on an information from a senior Fisheries Department official, Coast Guard ship "Naikidevi", which was patrolling in the area, rescued them yesterday.
The fishermen ventured for fishing from Tuticorin harbour on December 11. They were standered in the mid-sea following a technical problem in the boat's engine, a Coast Guard release said.

The boat was towed by the Coast Guard ship to Tuticorin Harbour, it said.
This was the second rescue operation by the Coast Guard in a week. On December one, 10 fishermen along with their fishing boat were rescued, the release said.
