A fishing boat with six crew members, which was stranded in mid-sea, was rescued and safely brought here, Coast Guard said today.
"Deep depression and cyclonic weather off Tamil Nadu coast caused Chennai based fishing boat St Thomas with six crew members to strand in mid-sea," a Coast Guard release here said.
Also, there was engine failure, the release said, adding, the boat, stranded since November 8, was located six nautical miles south east of Chennai.

On receipt of information, Coast Guard sent its rescue vessel 'Rani Abbakka'.
The weather condition was however severe with waves rising upto four metres and wind speed gusting to 40 knots besides zero visibility. Overcoming the challenges, Coast Guard rescued the stranded boat and crew members.
The boat and crew members were handed over to Tamil Nadu fishing authorities here, the release added.
