Indian Coast Guard (ICG) saved nine people from a dhow which sank in the Arabian Sea off the Jakhau coast of Kutch district due to inclement weather.
"The Coast Guard recieved a distress call from the dhow MV Al Wafa saying that its engine room was extensively flooded due to rough seas around 35 nautical miles off the Jakhau coast," a release issued by ICG said.
"Coast Guard Interceptor Boat C-408 equipped with damage- control equipment provided quick assistance and the nine people on board the dhow were rescued," the release said adding that the dhow sank later.
Last week, ICG had saved 21 people from three different dhows which sank due to bad weather conditions.
