Cobra Beer has become the first Indian beer brand in the UK to receive the International High Quality Trophies in recognition of its consistent excellence.

Produced by NRI entrepreneur Lord Karan Billimoria, Cobra has been awarded gold medals for its entire portfolio by the Monde Selection World Quality Awards this year.

In addition, the most prestigious of consumer brand awards has granted King Cobra a 'grand gold' medal.

In recognition of consistent excellence, Cobra (Bottle 66cl), Cobra (Keg 50L) and Cobra Zero (Bottle 33cl) were all presented with International High Quality Trophies, which are granted to brands that have received gold medals for three consecutive years.

Cobra is the first Indian beer brand in the UK to achieve this honour.

In reaction to news of the awards, Lord Bilimoria, founder and chairman of the Cobra Beer Partnership, said, "I'm delighted that Monde Selection has bestowed these honours upon us and I would like to offer my congratulations to Cobra's brewing team.

"These awards are no mean feat as, over the years, several reputable beers have been unable to obtain gold awards.

"The quality of our products, and their continued success, is a matter of great pride for all of us at Cobra Beer and these latest triumphs are cause for real celebration."

Monde Selection's mission is to test consumer goods from all over the world and decorate the best with an internationally renowned quality award.

The bronze, silver, gold or grand gold quality label can be compared to the quality stars of a hotel or those of the Michelin Guide.

It is one of the most prominent awards in the world for a beer to attain, Cobra Beers said in a release.

The awards are approved by an independent jury comprising top professionals from Michelin starred chefs and members of the French Culinary Academy to sommeliers and distinguished academics.

Every beer entered is fully analysed and taste tested with scores provided according to taste, clarity, head and further criteria, with a view to rewarding products of exceptional quality.
