Two pounds of cobra venom worth around Rs 6.5 crore in the international market was seized and one person was arrested from near Sealdah railway station in this connection, police said today.
Acting on a tip-off, a police team arrested Sadananda Majumdar late last evening and recovered from him one sealed glass container containing cobra venom weighing two pounds (907 gram), Joint CP (Crime) Kolkata Police Vishal Garg said.
"Majumdar failed to account for the venom found in his possession. It (Venom) costs around Rs 6.5 crore in the international market," he said.
"We are checking his history," Garg said.
