More than 20 coins, a blade, plastic bag and a peice of broken tooth brush were removed from a 22-year-old boy's abdomen during an endoscopic operation here.

A total of 25 coins, a blade, plastic bag and a piece of toothbrush were removed from the abdomen of the boy here during an hour-long endoscopic surgery here yesterday, said Dr Sunil Mapari, who conducted the operation.

22-year-old Rahul, a native of neighbouring Buldhana district, was hospitalised on June 11 and had undergone sonography, which revealed presence of such materials in his stomach.

Whether the boy had been mistakenly consuming coins or other things in an ordinary way or out of madness of having a peculiar habit, is a matter of investigation, Mapari said.

A team of six doctors conducted the operation.
