Cold claims five lives in UP; toll 10

Total number of deaths due to cold conditions in past three days touched ten today.

Two persons lost their lives in Bahraich district while one each was killed in Gonda, Kannauj and Farrukhabad since yesterday.

Maximum temperatures were below normal by 5 to 13 degree Celsius in parts of the state, meteorological department said.

Night temperatures were below normal in Meerut and Moradabad divisions, while Muzaffarnagar continued to be coldest with a minimum temperature of 2 deg C.

There is no let up expected during the next 24 hour with Met sources forecasting that weather would be dry over the state and fog would occur in many parts of the state till afternoon.

 

Keeping in view the cold wave like situation, local administration has ordered closure of schools in Lucknow and Barabanki and upto class VIII .

Two days back, three persons, including a woman, had died in Ballia district, one death each was reported from Maharajganj and Barabanki districts.
