Cold condition revives in some northern states

High-altitude areas of Himachal Pradesh continued to reel under intense cold wave conditions, which also revived in some parts of Punjab and Haryana.

It was another windy day in the national capital with the maximum temperature settling at 28.1 degrees Celsius, two notches above the season's average. The minimum temperature settled at 13.5 degrees Celsius, a notch above the normal.

The winds significantly reduced the humidity level as it hovered around 33 per cent on the lower side and 62 per cent on the higher side.

The high altitude areas of Himachal Pradesh experienced intense cold wave conditions while day temperatures rose marginally in the lower hills.
 

Keylong, Kalpa and Manali shivered at minus 8.7 degrees Celsius, zero degree Celsius and 0.6 degrees Celsius respectively.

The mercury rose to 27.4 degrees Celsius at Una in the foothills, while Solan and Sundernagar recorded maximum temperatures at 23.5 degrees Celsius and 23.2 degrees Celsius respectively.

The MeT office has predicted rains or snow at isolated places in mid and higher hills for four days from Monday as a fresh western disturbance lies over the region.

After a temporary respite, cold conditions revived at most places in Punjab and Haryana, with Adampur turning out to be the coldest in both the states at 4.7 degrees Celsius.

Bathinda too experienced a cold night at 6.9 degrees Celsius, the Met department said.

Amritsar at 7.7 degrees Celsius, Ludhiana 9.6 degrees Celsius, Patiala 10.1 degrees Celsius, Pathankot 8 degrees Celsius also recorded below normal minimum temperature.

Ambala in Haryana recorded a low of 12.4 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal. However, at most other places in the state, the low settled a few notches below normal range.
