Cold conditions abate in parts of Punjab, Haryana

Cold weather conditions abated at most places in Punjab and Haryana today as the minimum temperature rose a a few notches above normal.

Amritsar's minimum temperature settled at 8.5 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal, a MeT Department report said here.

Chandigarh also registered a jump in its minimum temperature today as the mercury rose to settle at 14 deg C, six notches above normal.

The night temperature at Ludhiana and Patiala rose to settle at 11.7 degrees Celsius and 12.3 degrees Celsius respectively, both up by three degrees each.

Hisar in Haryana which had seen a minimum of 3.2 degrees Celsius yesterday, also registered a steep increase in the night temperature which settled at 11.8 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal.
 

Night temperature also increased at Narnaul and Karnal, where the minimum temperature settled above normal at 8.5 degrees Celsius and 8.8 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Ambala recorded a low of 12 degrees Celsius, which was three notches above normal.
