Cold conditions continued unabated in most parts of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh today with the mercury plummeting to upto six notches below normal in some parts of the region.
The minimum temperature oscillated between six degrees Celsius below normal to one notch above normal in most parts of Punjab and Haryana, the MeT department said here.
In the plains of Punjab and Haryana, Amritsar was the coldest place recording a low of one degree Celsius, which was six notches below normal.

Among other places, Hisar settled at a low of 7.1 degrees Celsius followed by 7.2 degrees Celsius at Karnal, two notches below normal, 8.2 degrees Celsius at Chandigarh, one notch below normal, nine degrees Celsius at Ambala, 9.2 degrees Celsius at Patiala, one notch above normal and 9.8 degrees Celsius at Ludhiana.
Besides, some parts of the region, including Karnal, Ambala and Amritsar remained engulfed under fog.
The MeT department has predicted a rise in day temperatures in the region coupled with dry weather in most parts of Punjab and Haryana during the next 24 hours.
