There was a respite from cold conditions in Punjab and Haryana as the minimum temperature in most places in the two states increased since yesterday.
The night temperatures hovered a few notches above normal at most places in the two states, the MeT Department said today.
However, foggy conditions prevailed at many places early today, including Chandigarh, Amritsar, Ludhiana, Patiala, Ambala and Karnal affecting normal life.

Chandigarh recorded a minimum temperature of 9 degrees Celsius, two notches more than normal level.
Ambala registered a low of 11.9 degrees Celsius, up four notches than normal, while Hisar's minimum temperature also rose sharply to settle at 13.8, seven degrees above normal.
Karnal registered a low of 12.2 degress Celsius, up four notches, while Narnaul's minimum at 14 degress Celsius was nine notches above normal.
Barring Amritsar, which experienced a cold night at 4.2 degrees Celsius, most places in Punjab recorded an increase in the minimum temperatures.
Ludhiana recorded a low of 8.8 degrees Celsius, up two notches, while Patiala's minimum settled at 10.9 degrees Celsius, up three notches.
