Cold to severe cold conditions persisted at isolated places in Uttar Pradesh with dense to very dense fog occurring at many places over the state.
The Meteorological office here said that cold wave conditions occurred at isolated places over the state with day temperatures falling markedly in the Bareilly division, appreciably in the Faizabad division and showing no large change in the remaining divisions of the state.
They were markedly below normal in the Gorakhpur, Faizabad, Bareilly divisions, appreciably below normal in the Lucknow and Moradabad divisions, below normal in the Varanasi division and normal in the remaining divisions of the state.
The lowest minimum temperature over the state was 2.9 degrees Celsius recorded at Meerut, they said.
They have forecast that weather was likely to remain dry with shallow to moderate fog very likely at few places over easters Uttar Pradesh and at isolated places over western Uttar Pradesh.
