Cold conditions relent in Punjab, Haryana; rains predicted

Cold conditions today abated in Punjab and Haryana with the minimum temperature rising by a few notches above normal at several places in the region.

Chandigarh had a low of 13.6 degrees Celsius, up by three notches above normal, the Met department said here today.

In Punjab, the minimum temperature in Amritsar and Patiala settled at 10.8 degrees Celsius and 14 degrees Celsius respectively, up by three notches above normal.

Ludhiana had a low of 11 degrees Celsius.

Among other places in plain areas of Haryana, Ambala and Hisar had a low of 12.1 degrees Celsius and 11.6 degrees Celsius, rising by up to two degrees above normal. Karnal, Narnaul and Bhiwani recorded minimum at 8.3 degrees Celsius, 10.2 degrees Celsius and 12 degrees Celsius respectively.
 

Met department has predicted showers in the next 24 hours at few places in Punjab and Haryana.

It has also issued warning about hailstorms or thunder squalls at isolated places in Punjab.
