Cold wave conditions revived in several parts of Himachal following fresh snow fall in the tribal areas and other higher reaches and widespread rains and stormy conditions in the mid and lower hills.
The intermittent rains and snow in the region during the past two days have arrested the rising trend in mercury and maximum temperatures dropped by eight to ten degrees.
The mercury stayed five to seven degrees below normal but the rain deficit from March 1 to March 22 was reduced from 73 to 60 per cent after fresh rains.
The sky remained heavily overcast and icy winds accompanied by intermittent rains and snow lashed the region, forcing people to stay indoors. Normal life was disrupted in high altitude tribal areas while snowfall hampered the snow clearance work on Manali-Leh National Highway.
Rohtang Pass recorded 30 cm of fresh snow, followed by Kothi with 28 mm, Kalpa with 25 cm, Marhi with 20 cm, Keylong with 18 cm and Pooh with 4 cm.
Widespread intermittent rains lashed mid and lower hills and Gohar and Reckong Peo were wettest in the state with 29 mm rains.
