It was a cold day in the national capital today with the maximum temperature being recorded at 17.2 degrees Celsius, three notches below the season's average.

The minimum temperature was recorded at 11.4 degrees Celsius, four notches above normal, a Met department official said.

Shallow foggy conditions were witnessed in the morning which led to the cancellation of 45 trains and delayed 14 others.

Flight operations though were normal, an IGI Airport spokesperson said.

"Fog cover was shallow in the morning unlike dense cover found yesterday. Visibility remained stable at 1500 metres both at 5:30 AM and 8:30 AM. It improved further as the day progressed," the official said.

The weatherman predicted mainly clear skies for tomorrow.

"The skies will be clear. Shallow to moderate fog may occur in the morning. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to settle at 19 and 9 degrees Celsius respectively," the weatherman said.

Yesterday, mercury had dipped to a low of 9.6 degrees Celsius while maximum temperature had settled at 15.6 degrees Celsius.
