Severe cold wave conditions continued to prevail in tribal areas and other higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh today while day temperatures dropped marginally as the sky remained cloudy and strong winds lashed the region.

Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti district was coldest at minus 4.3 deg C, while Kalpa, Manali and Saluni recorded a low of 3.8 deg C, 5 deg C and 7.5 deg C.

Dharamsala recorded a maximum temperature at 21.8 deg while Shimla recorded a high of 21.1 deg C.

Una was hottest in the region with maximum temperature marginally down at 29.8 deg, while Nahan, Bhunar and Sundernagar recorded a high of 24.2 deg, 24.1 deg and 23 deg.

The higher reaches in tribal areas had another spell of moderate snowfall and snow clearance work to open the Manali-Keylong-Leh road was hampered.

The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) had cleared the snow up to 10 km short of Rohtang pass, but the road was again blocked due to fresh snowfall and the pass was covered under 20cm of snow.

The local MeT office has predicted snow and rains at higher hills and tribal areas during next three days.
