Cold wave conditions persist in J-K

While Kargil in frontier region of Ladakh remained the coldest recorded place in state with a minimum of minus 16.4 degrees, nearby Leh shivered at a low of minus 15.2 degrees against yesterday's 10.2 degrees Celsius.

Mercury in Srinagar continued to settle at 1.6 degrees Celcius for the second day, Met officials said.

While Kupwara town of north Kashmir recorded a low of 0.3 degrees Celsius, mercury in Kokernag in south Kashmir settled 1.8 degrees Celsius.

Pahalgam hill resort in south Kashmir, which serves as the base camp during the annual Amarnath Yatra, recorded a low of zero degrees, while the highway township of Qazigund recorded a low of 1.8 degrees Celsius, they said.

 

Skiing resort of Gulmarg recorded the lowest night temperature of minus 8.6 degrees Celsius.
