Cold wave conditions prevail in higher hills of HP

The cold wave conditions prevailed in higher hills and tribal areas of the Himachal Pradesh even as day temperatures rose by one to three degrees across the state.

The maximum temperature rose by three degrees to stay at 33.4 deg Celsius at Una, which was hottest in the state, while Sundernagar and Bhuntar recorded a high of 28.6 deg and 28.0 deg, followed by Nahan 27.5 deg, Solan 25.0 deg, Dharamsala 24.6 deg and Kalpa 16.5 deg C respectively.

The state capital Shimla remained partially overcast, with the strong velocity wings lashing the town.

Meanwhile, Keylong in tribal Lahaul and Spiti district was the only place where mercury stayed below freezing point at minus 2.3 deg C.
 

The tourist resort of Manali recorded a low of 3.0 degree and 4.8 deg Celsius, followed by Saluni 6.7 deg, Bhuntar 9.0 deg, Shimla and Solan 10.0 deg, Sundernagar 11.0 deg, Palampur and Una 11.3 deg, Dharamsala 13.6 deg and Nahan 13.9 deg C respectively.

The local MeT office has predicted rains, thunderstorm or snow at some places in the state during the next 48 hours.
