Cold wave continues in HP

Biting cold wave conditions persisted in most parts of Himachal Pradesh even as mercury rose marginally as the region experienced a dry and cloudy day.

The higher reaches in tribal areas and mountain passes of Rohtang, Kunzam and Chansel and Dhauldhar ranges experienced moderate snowfall since this evening while rains occurred at isolated places.

Manali, Kalatop and some other places recorded 5.1 mm rainfall.

The local MeT office has warned of heavy rains or snowfall at some places on February 2 and 3 and dry weather from February 4 onwards.

The minimum temperature rose by two to three degrees and stayed at minus 12 degrees Celsius at Keylong while Kalpa and Manali recorded a low of minus 5.6 and minus 1.4 degrees Celsius, followed by Una 1, Bhuntar 1.2, Sundernagar 2.6, Solan 3.5, Shimla 3.8, Dharamsala 4.8, Palampur 5 and Nahan 8.5 degrees Celsiuss.
 

The maximum temperatures remained steady.
