Cold wave grips Vidarbha, Nagpur chills at 5.3 degrees

Severe cold weather conditions continued to grip Vidarbha with Nagpur today recording the second lowest minimum temperature of the season at 5.3 degree Celsius.

It was also the coldest day in the month of January in the last 10 years, Regional Meteorological Centre officials said here today.

During the current winter season, the lowest minimum temperature was recorded at 5 degree Celsius on December 29, lowest in last 46 years. The last coldest day was in 1968.

In 2011 and 2013, lowest night time temperatures were recorded at 5.6 and 5.7 degree Celsius respectively.

Other parts of Vidarbha too continued to reel under intense cold wave conditions throwing normal life out of gear.
 

Minimum temperatures in Yavatmal today was recorded at 8 degree Celsius, 8.5 at Akola and 8 degree Celsius at Wardha, Met officials said.
