Cold wave in Raj claims two lives in Jaipur

Intense cold wave conditions sweeping across Rajasthan since early this week have claimed the lives of two persons here in the last 24 hours.

According to police, the body of a 43-year-old unidentified begger, who hardly had much clothing on him, was found at Galtagate here this morning, police said.

In another similar incident, a 62-year-old man's body, suspected to be beggar, was found at Ajmer gate yesterday.

Intermittent drizzle occurred in parts of Jaipur district late last night followed by overcast morning sky today.

Rajasthan has been under the grip of cold wave since early this week with Churu and Sriganganagar recording as the coldest places in the desert state with an identical minimum of 2.1 degrees Celsius.
 

The mercury yesterday had settled at a low of 0.9 deg Celsius in Churu, while in Sriganganagar mercury settled at 2.5 degree C.

According to the MeT Department, Jaisalmer recorded a minimum of 4.6 degrees Celsius whereas Bikaner, Pilani, Barmer, Chittorgarh, Kota, Jaipur and Ajmer recorded night temperature of 7.2, 7.5, 9, 10.7, 12, 12.2 and 12.3 degrees respectively.
