Cold wave intensifies in HP, snowfall from Monday

Cold wave conditions sweeping across the Himachal Pradesh intensified today as mercury dropped by few notches with the weather department predicting snowfall from Monday.

As per the MeT department, Keylong and Kalpa in Lahaul and Spiti district and Kinnaur districtsrecorded minimum temperature at minus 3.2 degree and minus 2.0 degree, while Manali shivered at minus 1.8 degree, followed by Bhuntar zero degree and Sundernagar 0.8 degrees Celsius,

Solan recorded 1.4 degrees Celsius, Palampur registered 2.5 degrees Celsius and Una 4.3 degree.

Tourist spot of Shimla and Dharamsala recorded 5.6 degrees Celsius and 6.4 degrees Celsius respectively while Nahan registered 7.5 degree.
 

The mercury dropped by two to four degrees causing freezing and bursting of water pipes at many places in mid and higher hills while thick fog engulfed the towns along the river banks in the lower hills.

The maximum day temperatures remained steady and Una was hottest with a high of 23.0 degree, followed by Sundernagar at 20.2 degree, Solan at 19.8 degree, Bhuntar at 19.5 degree and Nahan at 17.9 degree.

Dharamsala recorded 17.2 degree, Shimla registered 14.7 degrees Celsius, Manali at 12.2 degree and Kalpa at 11.2 degree Celsius.

The local MeT office has predicted dry weather in the region tomorrow and rains and snow at many places in the region from January 4 onwards.
