Cold wave persists in HP

persisted in Himachal Pradesh even as weather remained partially cloudy and strong winds continued to lash the region.

Keylong in Lahaul and Spiti distinct was coldest in the region with minimum Temperature at minus 1.6 degrees while Kalpa in Kinnaur district and key tourist resort of Manali shivered under piercing cold wave conditions with night temperature hovering around freezing point.

Kalpa recorded a low of zero degree while Manali was coldest in the non tribal region with a low of 2.0 degrees, followed by Blunter 4.8 degrees, Solan 5 degrees, Sundernagar 5.3 degrees and Shimla 7.4 degrees.

Nahan recorded a low of 10.4 degrees, four notches below normal while Una, Mandi and Dharamsala recorded minimum temperature at 8.9, 10. 9 and 11. 4 degrees respectively.

 

However, the maximum day temperatures remained close to normal with Una hottest in the Region with a high of 27.4 degrees while Sundernagar and Bhuntar recorded maximum temperature at 24.6 degrees and 23.7 degrees respectively, followed by Una, Solan and Nahan 21.3 degrees Celsius.

Cold wave conditions would persist without any let up during next two days, MeT officials said.
