Cold weather persists in most parts of Punjab, Haryana despite slight rise in mercury levels

Despite a marginal increase in minimum temperatures over the last two days, cold weather conditions continued to prevail in most parts of Punjab and Haryana on Tuesday.

In Punjab, Amritsar (7.5 deg C), Bathinda (7.3 deg C), Faridkot (8.8 deg C), Patiala (8.4 deg C), Adampur (8.7 deg C) and Gurdaspur (7.1 deg C) experienced a cold night.

Ludhiana, Pathankot and Halwara, however, recorded above normal minimums at 9.1 deg C, 10.4 deg C and 10.3 deg C, respectively.

Chandigarh, the common capital of the two states, also registered above normal minimum temperature at 9.9 degrees Celsius, a meteorological department official said here.

 

In Haryana, Ambala (7.8 deg C), Hisar (7.8 deg C), Karnal (7.4 deg C), Narnaul (6.5 deg C), Rohtak (7.8 deg C) and Sirsa (7.5 deg C) registered a cold night.

The department official said dense fog enveloped Ambala, Hisar, Karnal and Sirsa on Tuesday morning.
