"If the college is shifted, not only will the academic atmosphere of the institute suffer, students will also face a communication problem. We are opposed to the government's move," said DSO's district secretary S S Mishra.
Khallikote Junior College is functioning from the Khallikote Autonomous College building after the government separated it from the degree college in 2007.
As the building has no sufficient rooms to conduct the classes for 3,000-odd students of the institute, most of the theory and practical classes were held in the Khallikote Autonomous College. The college has all three streams arts, science and commerce.
