College director shot dead in Mathura, 3 arrested

Director of a college was shot dead here and three members of a gang have been arrested in this connection, police said today.

According to police, the Director of Malkhan Singh Mahavidalaya, Rajpal Singh (40), was travelling wih his brother Jainendra to Jaipur on Sunday night.

At about 2 AM, they were waylaid by five robbers travelling in a Scorpio on Bharatpur road. When Singh resisted their robbery attempt, he was shot dead by one of them, Superintendent of Police City Manoj Sonkar said.

Three members of the Bawariya gang were arrested in this connection from Magrora station area yesterday and a car was recovered from their possession, he said.
 

The arrested men are identified as Raju, resident of Manpur Shyonpurkala, Ramgopal of Vallabhgarh and his brother Bhupendra, he said, adding that two other gang members, Bablu and Jugnu, are still at large.

A hunt has been launched to nab the absconding accused.
