College lecturer, cousin stabbed by jilted lover

A woman lecturer and her cousin were stabbed and injured allegedly by her jilted lover at the copper town of Musaboni in East Singhbhum district of Jharkhand today, the police said.

Mahi Mardi, the lecturer of Ghatsila College and a married woman, had rejected the marriage proposal of the accused Chunnu Mahali.

The two had an altercation in front of her house following which Mahali attacked her with a knife, Officer-in- charge of Musaboni police station, Ramchandra Ram, said.

When her cousin Sanatan Mardi came to her rescue, he was also stabbed.

The two were now hospitalised while the accused, who is also married, was absconding, Ram said.
 

The lecturer claimed Mahali was having a one-sided love with her after she had rejected her proposal.
