The Mumbai police have arrested a 29-year-old man for allegedly putting a mobile phone inside the women's washroom at a college in suburban Vikhroli and trying to shoot videos.

A girl student found a mobile phone with its recording mode on hidden inside the washroom yesterday morning and immediately informed her teachers, police said.

Police found that the phone belonged to Vijay Shivthare (29), who has been working as a peon in the same college for the last five years.

When questioned, Shivthare admitted that he had placed the phone inside the washroom in the morning, said senior police inspector Shridhar Hanchate.

The phone didn't have any objectionable recording, the official added.

Shivthare was arrested under IPC section 354 (C) (watching/capturing image of a woman engaged in private act), which attracts jail term of up to three years.
