College student hit by bullet in suspected celebratory firing

A 20-year-old man suffered bullet injury in a suspected case of celebratory firing in southwest Delhi's Palam area, police said today.

Around 11 PM yesterday, Akshay, a college student and resident of Ram Nagar, was attending a family function in Mangla Puri.

A bullet hit his right forearm while he was having dinner. He started bleeding profusely and was rushed to Divya Prastha Hospital from where he was referred to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital where he is undergoing treatment, police said.

The family said they are unaware who fired at Akshay.

They also said that they were not sure whether he was intentionally shot at or it was an accident during celebratory firing.
 

Police said they have registered a case and are looking for the accused.
