College student stabbed to death in group clash

A 19-year-old college student was allegedly stabbed to death and another suffered serious injuries in a clash between two groups of students after one group refused the request of a student to join and play game at Perungudi near here, police said.

The deceased has been identified as Sethusurya, first year B. Com students and the injured as Bilal.

The clash broke out yesterday when a fellow student, John Prabhu sought to join the game of Cricket Sethusurya and his friends were playing and they suggested him to join later, as the play was half way through, they said.

However, John Prabhu and some other students picked up a quarrel with the group and stabbed Sethusurya and Bilal.
 

Both were rushed to a hospital, where Sethusurya succumbed to injuries and the condition of Bilal undergoing treatment is stated to be stable,police said.

Two persons were arrested in connection with the clash while four others were absconding, police said.
