Colleges in cyclone-hit Ganjam to reopen on Nov 4

With debris yet to be cleared from most places, Odisha government today extended the Puja vacation of colleges in Ganjam district, the worst affected by cyclone Phailin.

Though colleges located in other districts of the state, re-opened yesterday, the colleges in Ganjam will start from November 4.

"The Higher Education Department has decided to extend the puja vacation of colleges in Ganjam district after considering the extent of damage in the district following the cyclone," an official release said.

Stating that the state government has started work on war footing to restore damaged infrastructure in all the colleges, it said officials were asked to cooperate with the government to complete the work as soon as possible.
 

Meanwhile, the state government sanctioned Rs 5 crore for restoration activities in Berhampur University.
