Colors acquires rights to telecast IIFA Awards 2015

The upcoming edition of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards, to be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia in June, will be telecast on Colors.

Romantic comedy "2 States" and Vishal Bhardwaj's Shakespearean adaptation "Haider" are leading the nominations list with nine and eight nominations at this year's awards while superstars Aamir and Shah Rukh Khan are pitted against each other in the best actor category.

"Over the years, the IIFA Awards has become a global cultural phenomenon that has put Indian cinema on the global radar and we are proud to be associated with it," Raj Nayak, CEO - Colors, said in a statement.
 

"With the inclusion of IIFA Awards to our bouquet of offerings, Colors will now curate exceptional entertainment offerings capturing best of Indian film industry," Nayak added.

The channel will collaborate with IIFA to combine programming and marketing efforts to mount this year's IIFA on a wider canvas reaching out to more viewers around 135 countries across all screens - TV, Mobile and PC.

The three-day IIFA weekend will bring together the who's who of the Indian film industry. With events like IIFA Rocks, Magic of the Movies, IIFA World Premiere and the IIFA Awards, IIFA Fashion Extravaganza, the event will celebrate various elements such as fashion, music and world-class acting.
