"White Men Can't Jump" star Reynaldo Rey has died. He was 75.

The comedian and character actor died on May 28, due to complications from a stroke he suffered last year, reported TMZ.

His manager said he fell ill in January this year, and he was in hospital for treatment when he died.

Rey began his career as an acting teacher, but stepped into the spotlight as a stand-up comedian, touring with R&B group The O'Jays.

He branched out into TV and film, snagging roles in movies like "White Men Can't Jump", "Harlem Nights" and "House Party 3", but he's perhaps best known for playing Red's Father in hit 1995 film "Friday", starring Ice Cube and Chris Tucker.

Rey also appeared in hit US TV shows including "The Bernie MAC Show", "The Wayans Bros" and "227", in which he had a recurring role as Ray the Mailman.
