"I feel girls still shy away going on stage...And to act. Eventually, comedy is a male-dominated area. All comedians all over the world are men," Shekhar told PTI.
"It is like asking why women don't drive truck. I think comedy will predominately remain a male thing," he said.
In the past, Shekhar has judged shows like the 'Great Indian Laughter' and 'Comedy Circus'.
He was anchor on 'Movers and Shakers' and another popular TV show to his credit is 'Dekh Bhai Dekh'. Shekhar will be seen one of the judges on comedy show, 'Laugh India Laugh', to be aired on 'Life Ok'.
In this show, there are 22 contestants from all walks of life, taking up the challenge of tickling the funny bone.
Among all the contestants is one lady from Pakistan.
"We are happy that we have at least one female contestant in the show. She is good at comedy," Shekhar said.
The other judges on the show will be actor Chunky Pandey and singer Mika.
