Comgest buys 26.58 lakh shares of 4 cos for Rs 57 cr

European fund manager Comgest today picked up 26.58 lakh shares of four companies, including Tata Motors and Gail India, for an estimated Rs 57 crore through the open market route.

Comgest also purchased shares of Bharti Infratel and Power Grid Corp.

The fund manager bought shares of all the companies from DB International (Asia) Ltd except Gail India. It purchased shares of Gail India from Deutsche Securities Mauritius Ltd.

According to block deal data available with stock exchanges, Comgest Growth Asia Ex-Japan bought 6.61 lakh shares of Tata Motors for Rs 370.5 apiece valuing the transaction at Rs 24.5 crore.
 

Also, Comgest purchased 6.97 lakh Bharti Infratel's shares for Rs 178 apiece aggregating the transaction size to Rs 12.42 crore, while the fund also bought three lakh scrip of Gail India for Rs 346 valuing the transaction at Rs 10.38 crore.

Besides, Comgest picked up 10 lakh scrips of Power Grid for Rs 97.2 per share aggregating the transaction at Rs 9.72 crore.
