The check-post of Commercial Taxes department at Lakhanpur today got computerised enabling traders to deal with the department directly.

"Computerisation of the check post will provide much needed relief to the business and traders' community by way of a bouquet of services, enabling them to transact and deal with the department directly," minister for Finance, Abdul Rahim Rather said after inaugurating the new facility, which acts as the gateway to Jammu and Kashmir.

"The facility will not only save precious time of traders but also bring transparency through the 24x7 online facility," he said.

"The online facility will increase comfort level of the traders in their transactions with the department besides providing access to information about their own details.

"The computerisation of the check post will provide facilities to the traders for filing check post declarations electronically for inter-state trade and e-communication with the department," the minister said.

Rather informed that the computerisation of Commercial Taxes department has been undertaken under centrally sponsored Mission Mode Project at a cost of about Rs 20 crore.

"The scheme envisions creation of a modern indirect tax administration environment across states, supported by a suitably Information Technology (IT) infrastructure that is conducive to investment, economic growth and free flow of goods and services within a common market of India," he added.
