Telangana government today asked the Commercial Taxes Department to take up special measures for collection of Rs 1,194 crores of dues in view of the impact of demonetisation of high currency notes on the state's finances.
Chief Secretary Rajeev Sharma told the officials of Commercial Taxes Department to hold a campaign and send SMS to the dealers for recovery of the money with demonetised notes by November 24, a state government release said.
He asked the officials to initiate steps for auction of properties of those who have shut businesses with total dues, it said.
The other measures directed by official include conducting a campaign on details of defaulters, ensuring that dues do not accumulate and also thoroughly studying the impact of demonetisation on the department, Sharma said.
