Press Trust of India New Delhi
Government today said commercially available Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) pose a security threat as they can carry payloads to strike at a designated place.

Minister of State for Home Haribhai Parathibhai Chaudhary, in a written reply in Lok Sabha, said "UAVs can be used for surveillance and may carry payloads to strike targets."

He, however, denied about any incident where these pilot-less flying objects have been used for surveillance of Indian territory by criminals or terrorist groups.

"There are no reported incidents of criminals or terrorists in India using UAVs for surveillance," he said.
