The Uttar Pradesh Police can be made the "best force in the world" through the commissioner system, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said On Saturday.
"If we move ahead by making the commissioner system a model of excellent policing, we can definitely establish the UP Police as the best police force in the world," he said.
The chief minister said that along with this, "we can prevent crime incidents by mapping tenants and senior citizens in any city."
He was speaking at a programme organised at the Police Headquarters in the state capital.
The chief minister also said "criminals will reform either through law or forcefully".
"We have to be ready for both. At the same time, direct communication with the general public will also have to be carried forward," he said.
Adityanath awarded medals to police personnel who played an outstanding role in making the Prayagraj Kumbh Mela-2019 a success.
He also released a coffee table book Kumbh 2019', the 'Kumbh Mela Social Media Handbook' and 'Smart Policing', the UP government said in a statement issued here.
