Commissioner tells officers to take measures to check

Commissioner Meerut Division Alok Sinha today at meeting held at DM office here and directed the district officers to take measures to check the rising environmental pollution.

He said special efforts are needed with public cooperation.

Commissioner said farmers burn the sugarcane leaves and other crop produce which causes air pollution.

He said district officers should motivate farmers not resort to burning.

He also directed for formation of committee for the purpose.

ADM Bulandshahr will chair the committee comprising regional officers of pollution control boards of districts under Meerut Division.

Committee will submit report in 15 days.

Committee will organize awareness camps at villages and brief the farmers about the bad affects of the burning.
 

Other methods to bring out grains from the crops and other latest agriculture technologies which do not require burning will be told to farmers.

District Magistrate N P Singh and other district officers were present at the meeting.
